In 1960, Harro Auerswald decided to take the plunge and start his own business. Soon he was well known as a supplier of electrical components and smart custom solutions. The two main ingredients in his lasting success were reliability and quality.
In 1980, his son Gerhard Auerswald took over as managing director of the business, which he has been running ever since. An ambitious telecommunications engineer, he was brimming with good ideas, so it didn't take Auerswald long to make a name for itself with consumer electronics products. Its first radio-controlled clock system was produced on an unprecedented scale.Auerswald's next achievements followed in quick succession. In 1986, the company launched a home PBX that could be used with standard telephones. In 1990, Auerswald products were approved for use on the public telephone network, and the company launched its first small PBX – finally an interesting and affordable solution for homes and small businesses.

The ISDN boom marked the start of a new era. To meet the huge demand for PBX systems the company's Sales team worked closely together with specialist dealers. In the following years, Auerswald expanded its ISDN product range. Each new product further enhanced the company's excellent reputation.Strengthened by the success of the previous years, Auerswald took on the next major challenge: the exclusive business segment. 1999 saw the launch of its COMmander product range and Auerswald system telephones to match. The absence of upheavals in a company's history is the best proof of its continuity. For almost 50 years, steady growth, consistent financial performance and independency have been the company's trademarks - and the reason for its top position within the industry.
